Restore, Renew, Repurpose!

If you are looking for some simple, efficient ways to redecorate your home or breathe new life into old furnishings, consider repurposing the old, trended out items into new clever features to fill your home with style.

As simple a task as rearranging the furniture in a room can change both the flow of the space and your own  motions about it. But if you want to take the changes a bit further, there are some simple options to consider.

First off, more expensive does not always mean better quality. Consider buying furniture on clearance, or even at antique or second-hand stores. Craigslist even has a free section, where I have found great items for repurposing!

Don’t be afraid of shopping the scratched or dented items as well. Anything can be repaired, and a good sharpie marker is the dirty little secret to taking care of those blemishes.

Consider a piece’s use, and don’t overbuy. Are your children young? Are you going to live there forever? All these things should be considered when making an investment in your interior, and the answers can well-determine your shopping direction.

Paint is cheap. Just $35 or $50 and a bit of sweat can get you a newly painted room, or a new finish on an old piece of furniture. Bored? Paint it again.

One thing we do at the store is host “decorating with spray paint” classes. The next one is coming up May 14. It’s a fun and easy way to repurpose items in your own collection, or update a piece you may have found online or at a local yard sale.

Most of all, have fun with the process. This is your chance to express your individual style and create a room that’s truly your own.
